Why Buy a Paracord Flogger Instead of Leather?
We at The Contraption Shop love leather floggers. Let's get that out of the way as an unconditional statement. But, all of our floggers are paracord, and paracord kinda gets a bad rap as being a budget material, or is seen as less versatile. Some may think of it (unfairly) as "low class."
We use paracord because, frankly, we like it. It has so much versatility, which we're still exploring, and we have ideas in the works for some kinda wacky experiments with paracord in the future.
Will a paracord flogger ever feel like a leather flogger, or perform like one for certain flow styles? Nope! Why would you expect, or even want it to? Half the fun of kink and BDSM is exploring different sensations, and having a soft, concentrated 5 ounces (142 g) of padded steel BBs impacting at the ends of 13" (33 cm) falls is a sensation that absolutely cannot be duplicated in leather.
Is paracord better than leather? Is leather better than paracord? ... YES!
They both have the ability to produce sensations the other cannot. They both cost about the same in materials, and take similar times to make, and will have similar costs... It's the sensations and aesthetics that differ.
If you want the best thud for your dollar, go with leather. If you want something more "high society" go with leather. Want something a bit quirky, that leaves bruises and welts, or just stings like mad? Go paracord.
We're going to have a paracord flogger buying guide out soon, detailing the different sensations and physical impacts of different styles of paracord flogger falls. Keep an eye out.
